The Threaded lazy daisy stitch, step by step

We guide you here, step by step, to embroider the Threaded lazy daisy stitch.
This variation consists of surrounding a loop with a second thread to create a contrasting effect and highlight the outline of the motif.
1 – Work the base loop
Bring the needle up at A and hold the thread under your thumb. Insert the needle back into the same point A, bring it up at B at the end of the loop while keeping the thread under the needle, and pull gently to form a regular loop. Insert the needle at C behind the loop, in the direction of the loop, to anchor it straight.
2 – Thread the loop
Bring the needle up at D, just above A, with the second thread. Slide the needle under the anchor stitch of the loop without piercing the fabric, from left to right. Bring it out to the right of the anchor stitch and insert it at E, close to D. Pull gently.
3 – Secure
Pass the thread to the back of the fabric and secure it under the stitches already worked.

FOR RIGHT-HANDED EMBROIDERERS: Hold the needle in your right hand. Guide the second thread from left to right under the anchor stitch of the loop, keeping the fabric stable with your left hand.
FOR LEFT-HANDED EMBROIDERERS: Hold the needle in your left hand. Guide the second thread from right to left under the anchor stitch of the loop, keeping the fabric stable with your right hand.

Tips for a perfect threaded lazy daisy stitch

Tip 1

Precise entry point: Always insert the needle into the same hole at A to form a regular, well-positioned loop.

Tip 2

Ease of the anchor stitch: Leave the anchor stitch slightly relaxed to allow the second thread to slide easily underneath.

Tip 3

Thread passage: Always slide the second thread under the anchor stitch without piercing the fabric, to avoid distorting the loop.

Tip 4

Tension: Pull the second thread gently to outline the contour without deforming the base loop.

Tip 5

Colours: A contrasting second thread highlights the threading and enhances the clarity of the motif.

Result

On the front: A loop outlined by a second thread that accentuates the contour and strengthens the legibility of the motif.

On the back: Two discreet anchor stitches corresponding to the two threads.
